Just imagine yourself fitting to that old pair of jeans or that fancy dress which you had thrown away for a fat tummy line. Well good news all the way! You have lost a few kilos around your waist. The sheer thought of melting steady cellulite gives us immense pleasure. But trimming waist line is not so easy! It requires discipline, good habits and specific goals.

The thought of exercising regularly drives the lazybones back home. So the weight loss programs should not be monotonous. It should have the “fun” element backed with discipline and attainment of short term goals which should not be too difficult to achieve.

Before one starts exercising or going for any specific weight- loss product it is good to measure one’s vital stats like waist, hips, bust, thighs and upper arms. Being able to see improvement in weight loss will motivate oneself to stick to the program.

Cutting calories especially- goodies that enrich taste buds like chocolate, icecreams, sodas, burgers, cheese etc. is the toughest job to do. Hence dieting must never be haphazard or random. The idea is to get balanced nutrition and cut on fats slowly but steadily. It’s a good idea to consult a doctor or a dietician in this regard.

With the innovation of technology and easy access to information people find weight loss products or diet supplements more lucrative. However, these products should be carefully chosen only after consulting a doctor. The products may have certain harmful side effects which are not suited for all like for people with heart problems or high blood pressure. Hence one should get one self thoroughly examined to rule out certain health disorders like high BP, hypertension, thyroid, diabetes etc.

Exercise:

One can different modes of exercise like yoga, aerobics, work outs at gym etc. It is important to keep the body fit and healthy. One should strive for a min 20 min session every day. To make these regimes exciting try various ways like taking walk with your friend, jogging early in the morning, swimming, cycling etc.

Lifting weights:

This should be monitored by an instructor so to avoid any muscle pulls etc. The idea of pumping iron or lifting weights is because this helps in burning more calories and building more muscle tissues. This will only enhance your metabolism and balance the endocrine system of your body.

Food dairy:

This is to chart your daily intake of types of food in a day. This will make us aware of the fact of how much we have eaten and if any particular emotion associated with them. Whenever there are hunger pangs it becomes difficult to control or measure them. But with your daily record on the food dairy will tell you exactly where you are heading in your weight loss program. Find out what’s eating you whenever you have overeating triggers because it has been found that clinically obese people are manic depressive usually. So if you can identify your emotion you can have a control over those hunger pangs.

Eat healthy:

This only means that when we choose food we should apply some wisdom. The idea is to have a balanced meal. Here is a thought! Fat free foods have calories too! So when you are avoiding fats do it rationally; just remember if you want to cut down on saturated fats do not stuff yourself with the fat-free ones. They would not help at all! Add more fiber or roughage to your food.

Eat slowly:

Eating slowly helps in weight loss! This is primarily because it helps in digestion of the food. Eating smaller bits also helps the brain to decode fullness in the stomach within 20 minutes, which is the time taken by the brain to signal feelings of fullness from the time of eating.

Conclusion

Calories come from proteins, carbohydrates, fats and alcohol. Calories in excess of our bodies are all potential sources of fat. So diet is very important when losing weight. However, just take it slow and aim to lose one to two pounds a week. This will make the weight loss program less drastic and yet effective all the way!
